We are lucky enough to live close to multiple big mountains, and this month we got to visit and explore two of them.
First we went to Mt Hood, at the top is Timberline Lodge. Timberline is the big place for winter olympic sports hopefuls, as they keep some snow year round. We joined Grandpa Dan there for a meal for his birthday. Then explored the mountain a bit.




A few days later, we drove up to Mt Saint Helens.
On the drive up is Big Foot or Sasquatch country, and this awesome carving.

We kept driving...
This is the view from the west... you can still see most of the ridge.

This is the view from the north, at the observatory. You can clearly see the "blast area", the missing ridge and center of the volcano.

We went inside, watched a video and explored the exhibits.
