Nature, up close and personal.

So we have this hole in the screen door to our back slider... I went to open the door and almost grabbed this cute little guy. I think he climbed in and then didn't know where to go, he was trapped between the two doors.

So of course we had to rescue him, but not before checking him out...
Climbing up Wyatt's hand.
Cordelia was very interested but refused to touch him, which I found interesting since she has no problem holding and playing with most creepy crawlies, and here this is a cute frog. (don't mind the washed out picture, the girl still looks cute)

Then a handful of days later, we had a deer walking along the seldom used railroad tracks behind our house.
We had a bit of a staring contest with it.

It's been quite nice to see a bit of nature, we really miss that from PA. When we lived in the big house we had tons of wildlife on our lawn on a daily basis, lots of bunnies, squirrels, birds, fireflies. We'd just sit at the windows and watch. Then in the townhouse we still had a huge farmed field behind us, so we'd still get occasional bunnies and lots of birds. We've been missing that since we have no yard here. Guess we just had to wait for Spring to finally do it's thing, now they are coming out of hiding.

Oh that is neat! It is so awesome that you are teaching your children to appreciate nature. You are a good mom.
