Fall's Arrival

Hey look at me! I'm posting! I MacGyver'd the power cord and it's working... for now.
So here's a picture heavy update of our last month or so...

We have a new neighbor. We haven't caught a name yet, but don't have the heart to make him (her?) move away from our front door trim.
We also have this one lone flower that is brightening our porch....... even though the rest were scared off by the color changes going on all around.

On one of the first really brisk days of the year, I packed a picnic lunch and took the kids to a park after picking Wyatt up from school.
This is the view from the road to his school. That's Mt. Saint Helens.
We had fun on the playground...
Wyatt manned the camera for a while...
I acted like a dork...
Cordelia tried to figure out what was wrong with us...
Then we hiked around a bit.
Checked out the foliage.
And the river.
When we stopped for lunch we were joined by a juvenile squirrel.

About 2 weeks ago we were treated to an awesome package from Christian's Aunt Peggy... Goodies for all, but I was mostly excited about this:That's llama hand spun yarn, llama roving (wool that's ready to be spun) and 2 drop spindles for me to learn to spin with! I'm so excited! And it's even cooler because the goodies come from her llamas.
Also included in the package, a few stuffed llamas for the kiddos... and right in time for...
Can't beat a free fiber festival! We packed the kids into the wagon (llamas in tow, because the kids have been attached since, they sleep with them and even have them "sit" at the table at mealtimes) and checked out all the yarn, roving and fiber producing animals. There was also a dog show going on so we also saw some really interesting dogs, like Irish Wolfhounds and Greyhounds.
"Hey llama, look at the llama!"

After a full week of the sickies, the kids were going nutso... to alleviate some the the crazy, I let them follow me to the mailbox... in jammies with rain boots on. They had a blast, then got a hot bath and dry clothes.

Last weekend we decided to walk to the farmer's market in town. It's really little so we tend to go to the bigger one, but it was too late to make the 30 minute drive, so we walked the 1/4 mile to the closer one.
The kids were treated to free apples.
And a crazy 4-wheelin' ride home, compliments of their daddy.

The following day we did a little driving, on the seach for some fall colors. However, we now live in the "evergreen" state, which recieved it's name for a reason. I do think we'll get a bit more color variation, but not for another week or two. We did have fun any way.
Can you say moss?
And check these out, toad stools! Very similar looking to the mushrooms I made and decorated Cordelia's cake with. The kids got a real kick out of that.

And last but not least... Cordelia and I showed up a little early Monday to pick Wyatt up from school and joined the kids on the playground.

That's all for now folks!
