My girlie is officially 2, where does the time go?
We started the celebration a few weeks early, with a visit from Oma and Pop-Pop. They took her shopping for some cute new outfits and then treated us to a trip to the Circus. It was so much fun, and Cordelia loved it, especially the elephants, even though it was smack in the middle of what is usually nap time.
On Sunday we had a Tinkerbell/fairy themed party (Cordelia insisted) and it was a smashing success, even with the last minute change of plans due to rain. It took hours to re-organize and decorate the house to fit everyone, so long in fact that I actually was not nearly as prepared as I usually am, didn't get a stitch of makeup on, didn't have the food done or drinks out, but I think it was fine and the house looked awesome. I had printed up poster size pictures of fairies and tink and had them all over, as well as wall stickies of tink, flowers and butterflies. Then I used fabric to cover the tv unit and the lamps and netting over the kitchen table, and lastly strung up white twinkle lights all around.
Christian and Uncle Howie had taken Wyatt and Cordelia to run errands, so I was able to do the decorating in peace. When they got home, the first thing they saw, besides the transformation, was an awesome red wagon from Grandpa Norm. It kept them entertained until the kids arrived.
When the kids arrived, they decorated brown bags for their goodies and stars that we later used for "pin the star on the wand". They played with bubbles, then "pass the wand" (hot potato). They got to take home the bubbles, wands, wings and crowns, as well as coloring pages, stickers and tink tattoos.
After everyone had cleared out we took stock of the madness and decided to go out for dinner. Sitting there, Christian and I looked at eachother and realized just how long its been since we last went out to dinner, just the four of us. It's been a long time since we last sat quietly and just enjoyed. We have great kids. And a great life. We may be financially poor, often in need of the little bits others are able to pass on to us, but we are happiness rich. We are the lucky ones.
Here's a photoshow, not nearly up to par with what you're used to getting photo wise (we have been too busy enjoying it all to remember the camera) but you'll get the jist. Just under 5 minutes, fill your cuppa joe and enjoy.
